Tree & Palm Fertilization
Our Fertilizer Program:
Our fertilizer is custom formulated with our area’s soils in mind. This special blend cannot be found in stores, as it is made specifically for Golden Palm. We use different fertilizer blends for palms and trees, in order to address their unique nutritional needs. Our fertilizer program includes quarterly applications of our liquid and/or granular formulas. We determine how much fertilizer your tree or palm needs based on its species, height, and the size of its canopy.
Liquid Fertilizer
We inject fertilizer around the palm or tree at a rate of 1/2 gallon per injection site. We apply the fertilizer in holes in concentric circles 6 inches deep into the ground. The fertilizer is not drilled into the soil, rather it is jetted into the ground via water pressure.
Granular Fertilizer
Our slow release granular formula mimics the chemical analysis of the liquid. It is applied above the root zone of the tree or palm.
Frequently Asked Questions:

Ⓐ
What are the benefits of your fertilizer compared to other companies?
While many companies use generic fertilizers that are meant for turf or shrubs on palms, we use fertilizer that is custom blended to our specifications, for our area’s palms and soils. We also have a separate custom blend of fertilizer specially formulated for trees. Additionally, we can custom blend fertilizer in the field to treat a palm’s specific needs.

Ⓐ
How long do I need to fertilize my palms?
Just like humans, palms need constant nutrition. If the correct amount of nutrients aren’t naturally in the soil, fertilizer needs to be used to keep the palm healthy. Most non-native palms need to be fertilized their whole lives in order to grow properly in Florida soils.

Ⓐ
How often should my palms be fertilized?
We fertilize our palms every 3 months, this way they have a steady supply of nutrients.

Ⓐ
Why do you use liquid and granular fertilizer?
We use a combination of liquid and granular fertilizers to give you the benefits of both types. Liquid fertilizer has a faster response time, while granular fertilizer has a slower release time.

Ⓐ
How long will it take after a fertilizer program is started to notice a difference in my palm’s health?
In general, it will take about 6 months before you can visually see a difference in your palm’s health. However, it depends on the palm and the deficiency. You can read more about deficiencies and how long they take to correct here.

Ⓐ
Will my palms never have a deficiency if you are fertilizing them?
Palms being fertilized can still develop a deficiency because of environmental reasons, such as heavy rainfall events, over irrigation, etc. However, by having an ISA Certified Arborist inspect your palms every 3 months during your fertilizer application, deficiencies can be caught early on. Therefore, the palm’s fertilizer program can be tweaked and customized to help the palm overcome any deficiencies that may develop. In many cases we catch and correct the deficiencies before the homeowner even notices.

Ⓐ
How much fertilizer do you apply per tree or palm?
We base how much fertilizer we apply on the species and size of the palm (or tree). We also take into account the height of the palm, the square footage of the canopy, how long the palm has been planted, and environmental conditions.

I hear a lot about the 8-2-12-4mg formula recommended by UF, do you use that formula?
Our formula is based on that formula, and we have improved upon it by adding additional nutrients and humates.
